Answers for Campus Organisers
Use these answers to frame the next decision. Where a league or institution controls the outcome, its current written policy takes priority.
Does a team need varsity status?
No universal varsity requirement exists. Student-led clubs and institution-supported programmes use different structures. Check the competition and university requirements. “Varsity” can describe a local programme model rather than a globally consistent designation. Start with the governance guide.
Can international students compete?
Possibly, but eligibility depends on the current event rules, enrolment and institutional affiliation. Travel permission is a separate question. Ask the organiser about exchange, remote study or transfer circumstances rather than assuming that nationality alone answers the question.
Are scholarships guaranteed?
No. Funding depends on the institution, programme, year and published award conditions. Confirm the value, duration, renewal criteria and any obligations directly with the university. League participation is not evidence of an individual funding entitlement.
Does esports participation earn academic credit?
Not by default. Credit requires an explicitly approved institutional course, module or recognition process. A society activity, a team role and an assessed module are different arrangements even when the same students participate in them.
Can one player represent two university rosters?
Only if the relevant competition rules permit it. Check roster locks, movement between divisions and institutional representation restrictions. Obtain approval before the match; agreement from an opposing captain may not be sufficient. See the eligibility checklist.
Does winning a domestic league qualify a team internationally?
Not automatically. Obtain confirmation of the named qualification route or invitation from the international organiser. Check whether qualification belongs to an institution, a particular roster or another nominated representative.
How much practice should a university team schedule?
There is no universal requirement. Agree a sustainable schedule around study, work, access needs and the competition calendar. Give each session a purpose and a stopping point. The development guide offers a practice-and-review framework.
Who should handle conduct or welfare concerns?
Use a named contact and the institution’s established support or complaint routes. Provide an alternative where a captain or coach has a conflict of interest. A student welfare contact should help people reach appropriate support, not act as a clinician or investigate serious concerns without authority.
Can non-players contribute to a programme?
Yes. Analysis, production, event operations, accessibility planning and student leadership can all have structured development routes. Give contributors defined responsibilities, realistic workloads and appropriate feedback.
Does the enquiry worksheet send a message?
No. It prepares plain text locally. You can copy or download the draft and choose whether to send it through your own email application. It does not register a team, submit an application or verify league eligibility. Open the campus-enquiry worksheet.
